Recommended Blister Forming oven temperature is 165 Deg C (160 ~ 176 Deg C).

Oven cooking time is approximately 1 ½ minutes per mm of sheet thickness. For Blister forming it should droop approx. ½ the full length of the model you are vacuuming over.

ProFlex with Silicone is a milky white colour and becomes very pliable (stretchy), and clearer, but not completely clear due to the Silicone content, when at processing temperature.

The material should be worked over a cast that has been preheated to around 120~150 Deg C to allow extended working time. It is recommended that you use a pure plaster model to vacuum over without the use of a vacuum wick, which will potentially stick to the ProFlex.

It is recommended that you drill vacuum holes in the model in areas where you know the plastic will need to be pulled in. You can use a small wire to drill these holes making sure that the holes go through the bottom of the model. Drill a hole from where the valve housing will be placed through the bottom of the model to get vacuum around the valve and prevent any leakage of air when the patient is wearing the Prosthesis. There should be no need to use any form of release agent to allow subsequent removal of the plastic from the model. Use Sand Screen abrasive cloth to remove all marks in the model (See our SandScreen abrasive cloth strip; SS80, SS180 and SS400). Tip: use an old strip of SS400 to finish the smoothing process.

Allow ProFlex material to cool down slowly and evenly to avoid any risk of shrinkage problems.

The most popular Valves used with ProFlex + S are the “Green Dot” V-SFS Scandinavian Flexible Socket Valve and the Centri V-CTFVCSF Thermoplastic Socket Valve.

Hint: Use a Zip Tie around the valve once the vacuum has been applied for added assurance of a leak free fit. Coat the inside of the ProFlex with talc powder to prevent it sticking to itself if it touches itself when draping.

ProFlex + S is ideally recommended due to its low coefficient of friction, as a flexible liner material for windowed sockets. Trim the finished socket liner only when cold.

ProFlex with Silicone sheeting carries the CE mark of approval and is manufactured in compliance with the ISO 9001 quality standard.
